Election Law

Ed Mullen is an experienced election law attorney. Ed has represented political candidates in ballot access, discovery recount, and election contest lawsuits in the trial court and on appeal. Ed has also worked with electoral candidates on filing nominating petitions with the Board of Elections and pursuing and defending objections to nominating petitions. Ed has unique experience with post-election procedures, and he has worked with numerous candidates in the process of reviewing, challenging and counting absentee, provisional and other ballots in close races after election day.

Ed also has extensive voter protection experience, and he has organized and managed voter protection programs for numerous candidates and campaigns. For example, in 2015, Ed coordinated voter protection efforts for United Working Families and their endorsed candidates in the Chicago municipal elections. In 2004 and 2008, Ed worked with the Democratic National Committee and the coordinated Democratic campaign in Wisconsin to develop and implement the voter protection program for the Presidential and other Democratic campaigns, and in 2006, he worked on the statewide voter protection team for Senator Claire McCaskill’s campaign in Missouri.
